Roula Ghalayini left the American University of Beirut with a degree in graphic design and a scholarship from the Rhode Island School of Design. After graduating, Ghalayini worked as associate creative director at Leo Burnett in Lebanon for various fashion and luxury brands.
Ghalayini went on to join MTV Arabia as the channel’s creative director before taking the helm as design director at Fashion Forward, a platform that provides Middle Eastern designers with the foundation and exposure they need. However, Ghalayini was determined to pursue a career in product design, particularly in women’s accessories. In 2007, she launched Poupée Couture.
Under the mentorship of ESMOD and the London College of Fashion, Ghalayini transitioned into the realm of fashion design. Additionally, Ghalayini embarked on a personal workshop with internationally acclaimed jewelry designer, Azza Fahmy. Poupée Couture went on to retail in over 30 countries through various online stores, and in eight store locations across the GCC. In February of last year, the designer relaunched her brand as “Rula Galayini.”
